Mark Ruiz Earns the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Award

Mark Ruiz of La Mesa was presented with the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Award on Sunday, May 3, during a Military Review and Awards Ceremony at Army and Navy Academy. It was the culminating event of the school's annual Alumni Weekend.

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Award is a significant achievement. It is presented annually to a sophomore or junior Cadet. He must have contributed the most among students on campus to encourage and demonstrate Americanism deeds or conduct during participation in extracurricular activities or community projects. He must also be in the top 25% of his academic class, and have demonstrated a potential for outstanding leadership by exhibiting qualities including dependability, good character, self-discipline, good citizenship, and patriotism.

"Congratulations on this major accomplishment," said COL Kevin Batule, USA (Ret), and Commandant of Cadets at Army and Navy Academy. "You should be very proud of your outstanding performance of duty."
