Tianyang "Sunny" Xu Inducted to the National Honor Society

2014 Apr 14

Army and Navy Academy is pleased to announce its newest inductees to The National Honor Society, one of the oldest and largest recognition programs for high school students in grades 10-12 in the United States of America.

The Academy would like to recognize Tianyang "Sunny" Xu of Shanghai (Class of 2016), our most recent inductee to this prestigious group.

The National Honor Society was founded in 1921 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and it honors those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. It is estimated that over one million students participate in the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society.

Once selected, a student is awarded membership in their chapter at a special induction ceremony. With induction, each member assumes certain obligations as outlined by the chapter and the national constitution. The chapter must conduct a service project for the school or community and see to the development of an individual service project for each member. Chapters may choose to sponsor fundraising projects or otherwise involve themselves with the school to reach the chapter's goals.
