JROTC Rookies Drill Team Took Home Seven Trophies
The JROTC Department took several of our young Cadets to Katella High School to a "Rookies Drill Meet" on December 2, 2017. The young men performed remarkably. They participated in the following events: Unarmed Regulation Drill, Armed Regulation Drill, Color Guard, and Individual armed and unarmed Tap-Out. They competed against 14 other schools and walked away with seven trophies! They won two Unit Trophies and five Individual Trophies and placed first place in Armed Regulation drill and third in Color Guard. Members of the Rookies Color Guard are: Mu-En Hsu, Samuel Wahl, Adam Friedman, and Jiawei Liang The Unarmed and armed team members are: Mu-En Hsu, Samuel Wahl, Jiawei Liang, Holden Nguyen, Christian Crawford, Eric Carlson-Zhang, Benjamin Bartrim, Reid Zeiber, and Yidong Lou Individual Armed Tap - out: Wahl - First Place Friedman - Second Place Carlson-Zhang - Third Place Nguyen - Fourth Place Zeiber - Fifth Place

JROTC Proficiency Ribbon to Warrior Battalion Staff
The JROTC Proficiency Ribbon is awarded for outstanding briefings during the JROTC Program of Accreditation, which occurs every three years and is awarded annually to Cadets who have demonstrated a high degree of leadership and performance of duty. The Warrior Battalion Staff Cadets received the JROTC Proficiency Ribbon for their magnificent briefings to the inspector during the JPA. The staff briefed on their Cadet Continuous Improvement Project and their role in the implementation. Every staff member was required to brief. They were allotted a total of 45 minutes to brief and had they gone over the allotted time, it would have caused them to lose points. These dedicated young men devoted several hours to practice and earned an impressive 33.75 out of 35 points. Congratulations Cadets!

JROTC Proficiency Ribbon
The following cadets received a JROTC Proficiency Ribbon for their outstanding briefings during our JROTC Program of Accreditation, which occurs every three years. This ribbon is awarded annually to Cadets who have demonstrated a high degree of leadership and performance of duty. These Cadets participated in a dynamic "Unmasking the pain/anti-bullying monologue" Service Learning Project. They also proudly volunteered to brief the inspector on the LET I class project because they were passionate about the topic and proud of their results. Their role in the monologue contributed to the successful outcome. As a result of their dedication to delivering an outstanding presentation, they scored 19.5 out of 20 points. Congratulations Cadets!

This award is presented to the Cadet who exemplifies the ideals of Cadet citizenship. The Cadet must be loyal to the Army and Navy Academy and demonstrate dependability, cooperation, patriotism, and service to both the Academy and the community.

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a fraternal organization which benefits communities across the nation in direct and dynamic ways every day of the year. Its 700,000 membership reflects the many professions of America. This award is presented annually to one Cadet who demonstrates Americanism deeds or conduct during his participation in extracurricular activities or community projects. He is in the top 25% of his class.

The recipient of this award must demonstrate all around excellence in the JROTC program and be in a top leadership position.

The Order of the Daedalians is a fraternity of commissioned military pilots from all military services. It is named after the legendary figure, Daedalus. This award is presented to the Cadet who demonstrates high standards of citizenship and leadership as well as an understanding and appreciation of patriotism, love of country, and service to the nation. He must indicate a potential and desire to pursue a military career and be in the top 10% of his JROTC class.

This annual event is hosted by the Navy SEAL Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing both immediate and ongoing support to the U.S. Navy's Special Operations community and its families.

Joshua Rutledge Accepted to the US Naval Academy's Summer Seminar
Joshua Rutledge has been accepted into the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Summer Seminar from June 6-11, 2015. The USNA Summer Seminar is a fast-paced, six-day experience for high achievers who have completed their junior year in high school. It teaches about life at the US Naval Academy, where leadership is developed through rigorous academics, participation in athletics, and professional training.

Army and Navy Cadets Travel to Normandy for D-Day Commemoration
A select group of Army and Navy Academy Cadets will help commemorate the beginning of one of the most important military campaigns in modern history when they travel to Normandy, France this June to take part in the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The Academy is the only school from California invited to send a contingent of Cadets and leaders by the D-Day Anniversary Parade Committee and Musical Salute.
